Algorithm Design and Evaluation:

Design and evaluation of algorithms for fundamental problems. Evaluation includes theoretical analysis and, when appropriate, implementation and experimental evaluation.

Algorithm Engineering:

Design and implementation of algorithms for specific applications. This usually involves selection and adoption of know techniques. Practical performance is the main evaluation criteria.

Peer to Peer networks:

Robust distributed storage and search protocols. Although our work on Intermemory predates the current interest in P2P networks, it falls into this category.

Electronic Commerce:

Digital Rights Management, Dynamic Pricing, Privacy, Value Chains.

Game Theory and Economics:

Mechanism design, incentive theory, computational issues in game theory.

Additional Interests:

Coding Theory, Complexity Theory, Web Structure and Search, Data Compression, Security and Cryptography.
